about

Houston, Texas-based singing guitarist Richie Kaye is poised to release “Plush Life,” his second country music album and sixth overall. What makes “Plush Life” so unique is a seamless mix of the Classic Country genre that mesmerized him as a child with influences from exceptional jazz guitarists like Barney Kessel. The result is a hybrid sound that actually took root more than half a century ago, mixing Grand Ole Opry sensibilities with a comforting dose of New York City’s iconic 52nd Street jazz club scene.

Featuring 13 original songs that he penned and performed with the New Old-Timers, the album will be released on May 1, 2022 and available as a digital download on Bandcamp and shared for radio airplay. It follows his 2018 solo country effort, “Whinin’ and Complainin’: Classic Nashville Out-of-Love Songs.” His new band boasts some of Houston’s most accomplished session musicians, including Jody Cameron on pedal steel guitar; bassists David Craig and Rankin Peters; drummers Steve Allison and Walter Cross; and Kevin Carter on fiddle, as well as Kaye’s son, Sam Kuslan on piano, organ, guitar and vocal harmonies.
